The Role: Purchasing and Administration Officer
**Salary**: £28,000-33,000
An exciting opportunity for a Purchasing and Administration Officer has been created at our Wincanton operation in Bridgwater. This is a key role that will be central to supporting the day-to-day operation of the team to assist the successful delivery of warehousing and transport services for goods being delivered into the Hinkley Point C contract - a major infrastructure Project that is central to the helping the UK achieve Net Zero.
The primary function of this role will be to support the contract team with purchasing tasks, such as acquiring quotes from external companies and procuring services and materials. There will also be a requirement to provide support across other contract functions as required to enable the continued successful delivery of the contract.
Whilst core hours will be between Monday and Friday a flexible approach to working is required to support operations
The role reports into the Contract Accountant and will work closely with colleagues across the contract team.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributing towards a Zero Harm culture across the contract and Project
- Managing the procurement system and processes within Wincanton guidelines - Understanding multiple purchasing and accounting systems and their function
- Accurately ordering and receipting orders to support Contract Accountant reporting
- Liaising with the client and suppliers to negotiate quotes and acquire information
- Identify, with colleagues, areas in which to drive out cost across purchasing functions
- Contract management tool administration
- Collaborating with stakeholders for data gathering and subsequent analysis - Managing key areas of data input ensuring prioritization as required
- Striving for 100% accuracy in all aspects of work
- Producing accurate weekly and monthly reports as required
- Supporting the contract team across all functions with activity as required
- Reporting to the Contract Accountant on a functional basis, you will provide cover in their absence
- Contributing to team wellbeing and engagement
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience of working within a logistics environment is desirable
- CIPS qualified or working towards
- Experience of using procurement systems and following procurement processes
- Excellent communication skills combined with logical problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic, committed, and able to respond positively to changing demands
- PC Literate, in particular Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience of interpreting and analysing information
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, working as part of a high-performance integrated team
- Works to a high standard of detail meeting deadlines, with a good ability to prioritise
- Flexible and responds positively and reliably to internal and external customer requirements
- Hands on approach and to be able to accept and deliver change where necessary
- Driven by continual improvement and high personal standards
- A full UK driving license is desirable
