We are looking for an Engineer and/or Consultant capable at a senior level to work with an industry respected group of generalist engineers/consultants who provide strategic, technical and commercial support in main line freight and passenger, metro and light rail projects at all levels of the industry supporting new build and legacy rolling stock throughout the lifetime of the asset. Familiarity with rolling stock is desired, but not essential if you bring other relevant qualities to the role, gained either in other industries or other areas within the rail industry.

Our work on significant rail projects such as East West Rail and HS2 includes strategic and technical advice, technical specification and compliance, bid support, acquisition support, asset valuation, systems engineering and requirements management as well as general project engineering and management. Our key clients include national and local government bodies, Network Rail, train leasing companies, financiers, operators and manufacturers.
This is an opportunity for you to utilise your skills in a team comprised of engineers and consultants from a variety of backgrounds including train manufacturing and service support, ROSCO’s, commercial and contractual leadership relating to passenger rolling stock and locomotives and more junior staff progressing from Apprentice and Graduate schemes.
The team provides support to a very wide client base, both at home and internationally, and our strength is gained from having a diverse pool of experience and knowledge, sharing expertise, and enabling us to support and respond to enquiries affecting all parts of the rolling stock lifecycle. A role within the team will allow you to typically be involved in significant new rail projects, whilst gaining exposure to the many varied aspects of the railway, where your skills will play their own part in our whole service delivery.
- Providing high quality rail consultancy services to clients across a range of requirements.
- Often working alone or within a client team, you may also be required to work within a functional group, or independently, or on large assignments and on key projects.
- You will act as a source of sound knowledge and capability in work delivery and also assist the generation of new business for the Rail Consulting Practice.
**Core Role Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Provide high quality advice and deliverables to UK and international clients, both as an individual or through your contribution within a team, leading some elements, and through the effective and efficient coordination of wider Rail Consulting Practice resources.
- This may include supporting strategic level advice to high-value projects and assignments at both planning and delivery phase.
- Lead and/or be part of a team delivering complex projects and assignments as required.
- Contribute to existing and new work generated by other consultants when practical and required by the business.
- Work within a collaborative team, that is customer-centric having shared learning and continuous improvement at its heart.
- Ensure an energetic approach is taken to create business continually seeking fresh opportunities to solve problems by exploiting the advantage of your contacts and knowledge and using technology to improve consistency and quality of delivery and drive down cost.
- Assist preparing, selling and delivering compelling propositions to rail companies and other clients across the worlds.
- sure assignments are undertaken in accordance with corporate HSQE Management Systems and associated corporate management systems and documentation.
**Example work activities**:
- Working on a variety of technical studies which may involve new rolling stock (such as HS2) or refurbishments, maintenance and servicing considerations for existing services.
- Supporting decision making regarding new rolling stock procurement and/or fleet deployment decisions, such as for new considerations and/or during rail operator concession bidding (previously Franchise bidding), or support to governing bodies such as the DfT and, in the future, GBR.
- Working on rolling stock considerations requiring review/support in many diverse aspects.
- This may include contractual/commercial support of ongoing technical projects such as fleet fitment programmes, technical specification and requirement management of rolling stock, depots and infrastructure projects
