**About the Opportunity**
Our Water and Catchment Management sector provides a focus for advising our clients on delivering sustainable drainage, flood risk management and civil engineering solutions. Water and Catchment Management comprises in excess of 400 staff based in the UK and Europe, but with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America.
To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for an experienced hydrologist to be based in our Winnersh (Reading) office. They will lead hydrological contributions to projects for the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities and other public and private clients including water companies, and work with other disciplines within the business to deliver projects for major infrastructure clients.

You will be a versatile hydrologist with significant experience and chartered status.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading hydrological analysis for flood studies based on the Flood Estimation Handbook as well as low flow studies
- Technical leadership of multi-disciplinary teams for flood analysis and flood risk assessments
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support sales opportunities across wider business
**Here’s What You’ll Need**:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences or a related discipline
- Chartered with ICE, CIWEM or equivalent
- Demonstrable thorough understanding of general hydrological techniques, the Flood Estimation Handbook and knowledge of recent updates and active fields of research
- Working knowledge of WFD and Environmental Impact Assessments
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk assessment
**Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have**:
- Up to date knowledge of the relevant statutory bodies e.g. Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and SEPA and the data they hold
- Experience with hydrology applied internationally
- Experience with the calculations of the Probably Maximum Flood in the UK
- Design experience of flood management infrastructure and surface water drainage systems / strategies
