**Hours/Contract**:Permanent, 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri. Once accredited you will be included in the on-call Rota where flexible working is required. The flexible working hours’ scheme applies to this post.

**The Role**
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Durham Constabulary’s Covert Authorities Bureau (CAB) as a Communications Data Investigator (CDI) based at Durham Police Headquarters, Durham.
This is a hugely rewarding fast-paced role which requires excellent communication skills, flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to support the force and the communities we protect.
As an accredited CDI you will be involved in the legal acquisition of communications data, in accordance with the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, providing specialist advice to life at risk situations, proactive and reactive investigations, crimes in action and intelligence operations.
You must be prepared to work flexible hours and be part of a 24/7 on-call rota. Consideration is being given to a potential shift pattern. This role offers a blend of office and remote working.
**What You’ll Do**
To perform the role of a CDI, obtaining evidence and intelligence, including where life is at immediate risk and crimes in action proactively engaging in investigations, providing expert advice to investigators, SIO’s and Authorising Officers. To request data in evidential statement format, and check the statements are accurate and complete for their use in Court and to provide witness statements, attending Court when required
To interpret data and undertake analysis of data to support front line policing and OOH scenarios, identifying further lines of enquiry and tactical options ensuring all decisions are documented.
To research systems, review data, and interpret legislation providing advice and guidance to investigators and Authorising Officers. You will be required to act as a Force Ambassador on behalf of the team, liaising with external agencies.
**What You’ll Bring**
- At least 2 years admin experience, e.g. composing original letters and documents, maintaining accurate records, exercising judgment in processes and people
