**About the role**:
As our **Income Protection Claims Specialist**, you will assess income protection (IP) claims, in line with current UK industry best practice. There will also be a requirement to help train other assessors in IP claims assessment.

**Your responsibilities as our Income Protection Claims Specialist will include**:

- Assessing IP claims - This assessment must follow current UK industry-leading claims practice and will include obtaining medical and other information as well as drafting and issuing claims decision letters and other claims related correspondence
- Working with the strategic underwriters, management, reinsurers, and other stakeholders to ensure the swift and correct outcome of a claim
- Working with the strategic claims team and help them train other assessors based in SA to be able to assess IP claims. This will be a variety of mentoring and coaching, holding case study sessions and delivering training on specific topics related to IP
- Occasionally, assisting with QA checking of completed claim assessments

**What we’re looking for in our Income Protection Claims Specialist**:
Essential
- Broad experience of assessing and managing IP claims as detailed above
- Detailed knowledge of the UK insurance market and regulatory environment
- Experience of dealing directly and effectively with the FOS on claims related matters
- Good experience of working with reinsurers
- Confidence in presenting ideas and training peers
- Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and usual Office apps

Desirable
- CII claims qualification
- Auditing/QA checking skills
