**Job description**:
The role will provide an excellent opportunity for you to develop payroll skills. Payroll departments are central to the operations of organisations, a vital and interesting area to work in. No two days are the same in Payroll and things are always changing.
When you join our Payroll team you’ll learn how a Payroll department works, and all about the legislation that Payroll professionals have to know. This is a great opportunity to begin a career in a sought after and rapidly changing field.
This role also includes a unique structured progression route when you have successfully completed your Payroll apprenticeship and demonstrated your skills and experience.
As this role includes completion of the **Payroll Administrator** **Apprenticeship** **(Level 3)** please check the eligibility requirements below using the apprenticeship standard: Payroll administrator / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
- You must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date and not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
- You must not already have a substantial amount of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You must not have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You already have all the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have a degree (or equivalent) in Payroll.
- Part of this apprenticeship is to complete a level 2 English and maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and maths at Level 4 (grade C) or equivalent or a higher grade, you will not need to complete the functional skills qualification.
At the enrolment stage, the individual's eligibility will be checked by the training provider.
Once in the role you will be responsible for providing customer focussed, professional payroll service, working efficiently and confidently with large sets of sensitive data. You’ll be trained to understand and operate every aspect of payroll administration.
The role holder will be adaptable and resilient, ready to undertake a diverse range of tasks including the following.
- Supporting the delivery of our payroll function, you’ll get involved in testing new processes and procedures.
- Handling and processing payroll related information and data.
- Processing different kinds of payments to our employees.
- Gaining an understanding of and assisting with the end to end payroll processes.
- Gaining an understanding of payroll legislation including tax, National Insurance and the relevant submissions to HMRC.
- Gaining an understanding of pension schemes.
- Communicating with colleagues throughout the business and responding to their queries.
- Identify any inaccuracies with pay or pension information and work with the relevant stakeholders to sort these out in the best way.
- Comply with Data Protection legislation and ensure confidentiality at all times.
- Learn about legislative, policy or procedural changes to provide accurate information.
