Seven Education is looking for an SEN Travel Officer in Reading Borough Council
**The role**:
This is a role that has been introduced in many local authorities in the past 5 or so years, but it is not the traditional role working with schools and families who have SEND.
It's more a person with a bit of maturity who understands SEN Travel Assistance and perhaps has experience in introducing Personal Budgets for SEN Travel Assistance and helping parents make more cost-effective requests for SEN Travel assistance.
The role is liaising with parents and meeting with them and their children to assess whether a child has the capacity to travel independently or safely on public transport accompanied by a suitable adult.
It also involves supporting parents to think more widely about the ways their child with SEN can get to school. It has a 'green' element to it, but it is about saving money overall.
