The Education Department develops, resources, delivers and manages the ESU’s portfolio of education programmes. This portfolio encompasses in person and online teacher CPD, classroom delivery, competitions, awards and scholarships, all of which are focused on giving young people, regardless of background, the speaking and listening skills and the cross-cultural understanding they need to thrive.

In addition, the department supports practitioner led research to both inform the programme offer and to contribute to the wider development of the field of oracy research.

**Job summary**

The Education Programmes Senior Officer plays a key part in ensuring that programmes are of the highest quality, accessible and well received by schools. Using skills in event management, budget management, programme design, monitoring and impact you will join a growing team. You will take direct ownership for an area of the Education Department’s work, such as competitions or our direct delivery work with schools, and be expected to oversee the end-to-end delivery and daily management of your assigned programmes, escalating concerns or issues and reporting against progress to the Head of Programmes as applicable.

The role reports to the Head of Education Programmes and has line management responsibility for an Education Programme Officer. Effective stakeholder management, both internal and external are key.

**Responsibilities and Expectations**
- Direct management of a number of the department’s flagship products
- Support the development and delivery of the department’s suite of programmes
- Line management of an Education Programme Officer, ensuring programmes are delivered in an effective and efficient manner
- Development of training resources for delivery staff (both paid and volunteer)
- Quality assurance and review of delivery staff outputs
- Oversee the collection of process evaluation and impact data related to education programmes and use this to inform the development of both
- Stakeholder engagement: internal and external
- Product promotion to schools: through presentations, written communication and telephone discussions
- Oversee budgets associated with programmes being delivered, ensuring spend is kept within agreed limits.

**Skills and Experience**

**Essential**:

- An understanding of the nature and importance of the ESU’s charitable work within educational and wider contexts and a strong commitment to increasing the impact of the organisation’s work
- Highly organised, with an ability to ensure deadlines and targets are met
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Experience of writing succinct management reports, analysing impact and budget and making upward recommendations
- Experience of managing multiple projects effectively and efficiently
- A strong commitment to and a track-record of effective collaborative working within and across teams
- A pro-active and positive attitude to problem resolution
- An ability to engage with multiple stakeholders at all levels
- Experience of managing budgets effectively
- Graduate calibre
- A good knowledge of the UK education system
- IT literate with strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

**Desirable**:

- Experience of programme monitoring and evaluation
- Experience of creating high-quality educational resources, which enhance programme delivery.
- Line management experience
- Teaching qualification or relevant experience
- Experience writing marketing copy

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£32,500.00 per year
