You will also be heavily involved in the recruitment of students and staff. You will work across the Trust and in partnership with universities to facilitate the training and development pathways needed to ensure specific KPIs are met.

We are the first within the Greater Manchester region to collaborate with Sheffield Hallam University on their Ultrasound Apprenticeship programme.

At the NCA, we offer services in general medical, gynaecology, obstetrics, vascular, MSK, head & neck and paediatric ultrasound. We actively encourage participation in departmental improvement and in training and CPD.

A recent structure change within Ultrasound has enabled us to establish different roles which have created opportunities for staff and have assisted in better management of the service; a Consultant Sonographer being one of these. There are more opportunities to come, and our ties within Greater Manchester and with higher education institutions provide many possibilities.

This is an 18 month Secondment opportunity as Ultrasound Clinical Tutor across the Northern Care Alliance (NCA) NHS Foundation Trust.

**Main duties of the job**:

- As a key member of the ultrasound team, working closely with the Ultrasound Service Manager, Clinical Lead Sonographers and Directorate Managers, you are responsible for leading both clinically as well as managerially the education and training of ultrasound trainees, new employees and registrars, where necessary.
- Actively participate in the training of students, new employees and registrars (where necessary). This will include multidisciplinary sonography students on the post-graduate certificate/diploma/ MSc Medical Ultrasound course and registrars in radiology and obstetrics and gynecology. This will also include new employees on a probationary period.
- To work as an autonomous ultrasound practitioner undertaking a range of high-quality ultrasound examinations, interpreting the resultant images and providing a diagnostic report in support of subsequent patient management.
- As an Advanced Practitioner with expert knowledge of ultrasound techniques underpinned by theory and experience you will work as part of the team at the NCA sites delivering both academic and clinical teaching to all trainees and new employees.
- Undertake individual trainee assessments and manage the continuous clinical assessment of trainees ensuring competencies are achieved.

- HCPC or equivalent registration
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification
- Post Graduate Diploma/Certificate In Medical Ultrasound
- Society of Radiographers (SOR) or equivalent registration
- MSc in Imaging/ Ultrasound or equivalent experience

**Desirable criteria**:

- Holds or working towards teaching qualification
- Trained in MSK, Head & Neck, Paeds, Vascular or other

**Knowledge, skills, training and experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Significant PG qualification experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

**Desirable criteria**:

- Evidence of previous student mentoring and assessing
- Previous experience in a supervisory/ management role
- Evidence of multi-modality knowledge
