**About us**
At the heart of the Richmond and Wandsworth shared Community Safety Service lies a mission: to build safer and stronger communities. We tackle some of society’s most pressing challenges - Serious Violence, Domestic Abuse, Reducing Reoffending, Radicalisation, and Hate Crime. Our work is rooted in collaboration, innovation and a deep commitment to protecting and empowering our residents. You will be joining a team of mutually supportive, high-performing and passionate professionals.
**About the role**
As the Prevent and Hate Crime Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring that the work of the Councils, the statutory Community Safety Partnership and its voluntary sector partners effectively build social cohesion in our communities, safeguard vulnerable individuals from radicalisation, and reduce hate crime. You will mobilise effective multi-agency implementation of the Prevent and Protect duties and will be the driving force for the Council’s partnership work on hate crime and social cohesion. You will coordinate strategic delivery groups, serve as a partnership-wide technical resource on your thematic areas, and provide guidance such that our services remain aligned and at pace with fast-evolving policy and trends.
You will work closely with senior officers from Education, Health, Children’s and Adults’ Social Services and the Chief Executive Group as well as Police, local voluntary sector organisations and elected councillors. You will identify gaps, design new initiatives and undertake complex problem-solving to ensure a robust system of support for those most at risk of radicalisation and hate crime. You will represent the Councils at relevant regional and national meetings and further develop our capacity for data-driven and analytical approaches. This is more than a coordination role - it is a chance to shape strategy, drive multi-agency delivery, and build resilience in our communities.
**Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
- A solid thematic understanding of extremism, radicalisation, social cohesion and hate crime, including relevant national policies and strategies.
- Extensive experience in multi-agency partnership working with both public and voluntary sector stakeholders.
- Experience working within multi-cultural and multi-faith stakeholder groups and in roles requiring high levels of cultural competency.
- Experience of delivering presentations, trainings, workshops and briefings to varied audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to sell ideas and concepts and articulate shared vision across a range of stakeholders.
