Trainee Management Accountant

This is an exceptional opportunity for a recently graduated finance student wanting to study towards their professional qualifications and progress towards a career in management accounting, or someone who has previous experience in an accounts role and wants to take that next step in their career. The first few months will involve providing administrative and transactional finance process support to the team, with the role evolving into an Assistant Management Accountant in line with study completion. You’ll learn and develop skills enabling you to assist with the timely and accurate delivery of the management accounts, as well as owning the administrative tasks within finance.

You’ll be an energetic, driven and career minded person with the desire to gain your professional qualifications whilst giving valuable support to the accounting team. You’re a collaborative team player with great communication skills and the willingness to get involved in a wide range of finance related tasks, learning and improving at every step of the way.

What you'll be doing
- Supporting the Management Accountant with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assisting with monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Providing financial analysis to departments across the business.
- Assisting with the year-end accounting and audit processes.
- Supporting and assisting the Accounts Payable team with transactional postings and payment run tasks such as checking payment data and actioning supplier payments.
- Owning other administrative tasks within Finance, including expenses, fuel cards, banking and credit card management.
- Completing adhoc projects to support the function and drive improvements.

What we're looking for
- We don’t need any specific experience, as we are happy to look at someone with a finance degree or other relevant qualification who is looking to take their first steps towards a career in accounting.
- However, any experience in a relevant role, such as an early stage Accountancy role or a transactional finance role such as Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable, would be advantageous.
- Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and succinctly to non-finance audiences.
- Problem solving skills, able to influence solutions by proposing evidence-based recommendations.
- An analytical and data-driven mindset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to work effectively within a small team and interact with a range of key business stakeholders and colleagues.
- Meticulous, proactive, enthusiastic, and a close eye for detail.
- Good Microsoft Excel knowledge. Experience of advanced features like macros, v-lookups, pivot tables etc would be useful.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work well towards strict targets and deadlines.
- Based within commutable distance of Fleet, Hampshire.
