Income Recovery Assistant

**PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION**
Income Recovery Assistant will be responsible for supporting Team Leaders on service delivery and development and, where appropriate statutory and professional accountabilities.
Income Recovery Assistants will be responsible to the Team Leader for achieving agreed performance outcomes and standards, which will be reviewed on at least an annual basis.
Income Recovery Assistants will be expected to be committed to the council “Core Principles and Key Aims” and must demonstrate this commitment in the way they carry out their duties and responsibilities.
- To provide support to Income Recover Officers in delivering an effective income recovery service to all tenants in the Area.
- To provide administrative support to the Income Recovery Team.
- To collect all income due in line with targets, by way of correspondence, telephone calls and interviewing.
- To agree repayment plans and keeping accurate records.
- To manage all parking and garage accounts.
**1. Service Delivery**
- To be responsible to the Team Leader, for the provision of administrative and support services to the Rent Arrears Team.
- To undertake rent arrears recovery work by monitoring and taking action up to and including the service of a Notice Order Seeking Possession when required.
- To ensure that all computer systems are constantly updated and reflect the accurate position of all arrears recovery activity.
- To undertake initial interviews with tenants and their representatives regarding income recovery matters. Including liaising with other agencies or departments on the tenants behalf.
- To deal with tenants rent queries and making arrangements with them to clear arrears.
- To undertake home visits in order to assist tenants as required in line with Income recovery procedure
**EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE**
Experience of working in an administrative office, ideally within social housing environment. OR A relevant Housing Qualification
I.T. skills to minimum NVQ level 2 (ITQ2) or equivalent
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITY**
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and numeracy skills as applicable to the requirements of the post with good attention to detail.
Ability to compile, maintain and assist in the updating of complex filing and other systems
Experience of using computer based systems such as word, excel and outlook and the ability, with training, to quickly learn new systems.
