Job Title: Summer Playscheme Worker

Location: E C Roberts Centre, Portsmouth

Working Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday)

Fixed-Term Contract: 6 Weeks.

Job Overview:
As a Summer Playscheme Worker, you will play a key role in planning and delivering a variety of activities, ensuring the welfare and safety of all participants, and fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere. Your role is pivotal in creating memorable and enriching experiences for the children while supporting their growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Organise and lead engaging activities for children, utilising free resources and activities from partner organisations.
- Maintain a safe environment, adhering to Health & Safety and Child Protection policies.
- Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring they are effectively integrated into the playscheme.
- Keep accurate records, including daily registers, parent consent forms and expenditure receipts.
- Develop supporting relationships with children, parents, and guardians.
- Handle and account for daily petty cash transactions.
- Be vigilant about health and safety issues, implementing practices to minimise risks.
- Use budget effectively to maximise benefits for children.
- Comply with all E C Roberts Centre policies, including Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and Child Protection.
- Report any child protection concerns to your line manager.
- Some understanding of Child Development.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Practical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to relate to families in crisis.
- Ability to Work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake training.
- Ideally, experience working with children in a school, nursery or play facility.
- Ideally, NNEB / NVQ 2 / Diploma L2 in childcare or equivalent youth work, teaching, teaching assistant or social care qualification
