Step Ahead are looking for flexible and professional staff with excellent interpersonal skills to join our agency, specifically to work alongside our client, a prominent central London museum.

Our client’s museum collections, exhibitions and events explore the themes of health and the human experience, through medicine, science and art.

Through Step Ahead you will provide additional support on an ad hoc shift basis, as required to assist the in-house team deliver an exceptional visitor experience and active live programme. Shifts are over a seven-day week and include early mornings, mid-afternoon, late evenings and special events.

Joining Step Ahead, as an agency Visitor Experience Assistant, you will have flexibility to work when best suits you.

This role involves working with a fantastic and supportive team, front of house, invigilating galleries and facilitating an excellent experience for visitors, whilst ensuring the venue is accessible and inclusive, and maintaining the safety of visitors and collections.

**Key Duties**
- Welcoming visitors, checking tickets and giving directions.
- Being a constant, active and visible presence in your gallery/position.
- Presenting a friendly, proactive and approachable manner to visitors.
- Actively engaging with visitors about the themes, objects and artworks on display.
- Dealing with visitors’ questions, queries and concerns in a friendly, thorough and professional manner.
- Proactively spot and respond to issues affecting the safety and experience of visitors, and the safety and accessibility of the venue.
- Act as fire marshal, manage queuing and crowd control, and actively maintain the safety of visitors and staff (e.g. by reporting spills and hazards, checking fire escapes etc.)
- Proactively invigilate the galleries, maintaining the safety and security of artworks and objects.
- Ensure the area is clean and presentable and respond to issues or report to the Duty Manager as necessary.
- Undertake operational tasks such as opening and closing galleries, stocking up leaflets, tidying, setting queuing barriers, moving boxes and materials, etc.

**Essential Skills**

To be successful in the role you must possess:

- front of house or customer service experience along with excellent people-skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
- You must be flexible to cover shifts that could range from different hours of the day and actively ensuring you are sending your availability as accurately as possible.
- Confident, friendly and cheerful with exceptional inter-personal skills. Good time keeping and organisational skills.
- Able to work on own initiative with mínimal supervision and be self-motivated.
