We are working with a company that was created with a purpose to re-define e-commerce by using Immersive Technologies, changing the way brands and products are presented online. With a vision to become the world's leading solution for e-commerce front-end,they are building new technology frontier, highly-differentiated virtual experiences which extend brands' physical retail experience into the digital world, adding a layer of interactivity and personalisation by using cutting edge 3D technology.
They currently have a platform for businesses in luxury retail, fashion & art, enabling creation of virtual stores that boost sales and customer engagement.
**The Role
**Day to day you will be steering the engineering function and the technical development of the companies product vision ensuring both reliability and innovation.
You'll be at the heart of their software development from launch to scale, building out a team of engineers that support our technical ambitions, transforming our client's Product Vision and Strategy into a technical roadmap and fostering an engineering cultureof curiosity and excellence.
Along with the CTO, and CEO, you will help shape the technical vision of our company, placing your dedicated team of engineers as your absolute priority. This role is vital to support growth and long-term vision across the company**
**Your responsiblities would typically be as follows**:

- Create an environment focused on engineering excellence and efficient execution (prioritising code quality and sustainable architectural decisions).
- Build out, retain and run a talented, curious and motivated engineering team, including interviewing and mentoring talent.
- Setting out technical roadmaps, translating vision into technical reality.
- Be heavily involved in architectural decisions and tech-stack conversations to facilitate moving quickly and meaningfully towards solving customer pain points.
- Contribute technical acumen to the product development process: thinking through UX, mapping intuitive, elegant and friction-free UI into technical reality
- Design, implement, and monitor all operations and key performance metrics/operational efficiency for the engineering team.
- Develop standards and procedures to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
- Maintain and optimize budgets to meet goals.
- Collaborate on the complete product lifecycle from concept to execution.
- Recommend new technology and ideas to improve sprints and efficiency.

**What are we looking for?**:

- Experience in E-Commerce
- Advanced experience leading and working in development (C#.Net as a preference in technical background)
- Experience leading software engineering teams (current team of 11, although this may be split to two teams of 6)
- A passion for agile, with experience of working in a scaled environment with high performing autonomous scrum teams.
- You understand how to optimise engineering practices and deliver your product roadmap though quarterly release planning and prioritisation.
- A passion for delivering new product roadmaps and managing the trade offs between speed to market, customer needs and building solid technical foundations.
- Experience building and operating large scale systems.
- Experience of legacy modernisation and dealing with technical debt whilst delivering customer value.
- Use of fact-based analyses to deliver recommendations to senior management about decisions related to managing the software development process and team.
- Strong understanding of QA processes and methodologies.
- Natural leadership to mentor and engage a team with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills at all levels

The company has a large focus on immersive technology (Unity, Unreal Engine) - you do not need experience in these areas but you do need to be keen on working in the Immersive Space.
