**JOB - Head of Research & Development**LOCATION - West Sussex**TERM- Permanent**SALARY - £55,000 - £67,000 per annum but dependent on experience**My client is an engineering company that designs and manufactures products for UK and global customers. They are looking for a Head of Research & Development to join their team in West Sussex on a permanent basis.
**The Head of Research & Development will ideally have the following attributes**:

- BEng or BSc Degree qualified or similar in Product Design/Industrial Design/Mechanical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering or similar
- Have at least 5 years of experience working in a Design Engineering role within a product development environment
- Be passionate about design and manufacture
- Be proficient using 3D CAD - ideally SolidWorks software but others may be considered
- Have previous experience delivering projects from concept right through to manufacture
- Excellent communication skills and organisational skills
- Previous experience coaching, managing or having leadership responsibilities
- Have strong analysis, FMEA and DFM skills
- Have a good understanding of materials and varied manufacturing processes and principles

**The Head of Research & Development role will involve**:

- Leading teams focussed on the design and development of new products
- Managing and maintaining the process with improvements and new initiatives
- Reviewing, validating and delivering the full product life cycle
- Overseeing deadlines, budgets and timescales
- Providing technical expertise
- BOM management working with the company ERP system
- Always having an appreciation for CI and Lean Manufacturing
