Mentor/resource Worker

This is a post, in partnership with OWLS, Community Justice, working alongside women in the community area of Perth & Kinross.
As a Mentor/Resource Worker, you will be responsible for implementing a range of interventions and support measures as part of an integrated package of social support. The support service is specifically designed to address the complex needs of women who are involved in the Community Justice System. You will work systemically in delivering a relationship-based programme where frequency, tenacity and creativity are central.
The post holder will be required to assess the needs of individuals referred to the service and plan and deliver a proportional response to the presenting issues. Work will be delivered through one-to-one intervention as well as within a group setting across a range of sites. Additionally, you will be expected to contribute to the development of this service by contributing to the content & style of programmes/interventions as well as liaising with other agencies and professional workers to promote the service and identify specific gaps in provision within the local area.

Key responsibilities:
These key responsibilities are not exhaustive.
- To assess, plan and deliver a needs-led programme for women who have complex needs. And who are/have been affected by offending and/or substance use
- Undertake an effective, flexible, intensive outreach approach to engage and build relationships with women
- Develop working relationships which empowers individuals to resolve past/current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future
- Work in partnership with key agencies, e.g. Community Justice, substance services, sexual health, housing, and mental health
- Ensure an evidence base is applied to practice through a collaborative assessment of women’s needs and strengths
- Develop focused, bespoke and creative interventions that meet the women’s needs and objectives/goals
- Ensure outcomes are achieved through the use of Outcome reviewing and that data and recording is completed to a high standard
- Ensure all practice matters relating to child protection or vulnerable adults are dealt with promptly and in line with local safeguarding policies;
- Represent TCA at relevant events;
- Embed a continuous learning ethos within individual and team practice including involvement in reflective practice discussions and demonstrating and maintaining healthy and professional boundaries.
- Provide clear communication between the women, OWLS Keyworker and OWLS Coordinator as well as the TCA Line Manager.
- To work effectively as part of a multi-skilled team, contributing to the development of the OWLS Service and TCA Mentoring.
- Deliver Customised Peer Mentor training to client group.
- To assist with the identification and monitoring of trends and patterns of female offenders and their substance misuse within the local community.
- To promote and facilitate user involvement in the development and delivery of the service
- To promote service user involvement in service provision and development.
