**TERM-TIME CONTRACT: Salary will be pro-rata**
- Provide personalised one to one crisis management support in the crisis centre and in high schools to young people age 12 to 18, to prevent death and self-harm, helping develop coping mechanisms and harm reduction strategies, a listening service and relevant referral service for service users in crisis to enable them to maintain their mental health.
- Encourage service users to promote independence and self-responsibility for their mental health, ensuring that those in crisis preserve their dignity and challenge the stigma around mental health issues.
- To record relevant information using our client database ensuring confidentiality and GDPR are maintained at all times. *1.0* *EXPERIENCE* 1.1 A good understanding of matters relating to adult and child safeguarding procedures and suicide prevention. 1.2 Experience in a mental health support worker role is desirable. 1.3 A working knowledge of Mindfulness, CBT or other therapies and a willingness to undertake further training in these areas. *2.0 Skills* 2.1 Understand issues that impact and relate to mental health & wellbeing. 2.2 Display excellent interpersonal skills and listening skills. 2.3 The ability to think on your feet, handle challenging situations and identify risk. 2.4 Be passionate, engaging, empathetic and have a non-judgmental attitude. 2.5 Good IT skills with a good standard or written and spoken English. *RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES* *1.0 Provision of support* 1.1 Take a lead in delivering one to one therapeutic and group work activity and provide one to one support and key-working interventions using Crisis Management Plans and other relevant resources. 1.2 Building and developing service users’ personal strengths, social networks and recovery capital (social, physical, human and cultural) to ensure they maintain a good level of mental health. 1.3 Provide practical support and supervision to volunteers & peer workers as required. 1.4 Develop effective relationships with other groups and agencies in our area and take opportunities to promote The Lighthouse and mental health awareness in the wider community. 1.5 Effectively and proactively connecting service users into a range of health and social care services that support their recovery. 1.6 To participate in effective teamwork and establish good channels of communication to all local organisations, agencies and local schools. 1.7 To promote peer and volunteering opportunities within the service. *2.0 Service User participation and customer care* 2.1 To ensure that service users are able to participate in all areas of service delivery and that all services are accessible and relevant to their needs. 2.2 To promote participation by providing advice and choices to enable individuals to participate more fully in daily decisions relating to them. 2.3 To assist with and encourage service users in providing feedback on services using feedback, meetings, complaints, suggestions and questionnaires. *3.0 Administrative Duties* 3.1 Provide administrative support to the manager and deputies when out of office. 3.2 To ensure accurate and relevant information is recorded in accordance with Lighthouse policy (case file recording). 3.3 Telephone and general office duties. *4.0 Health and Safety* 4.1 To be aware of, and work within, Lighthouse Health and Safety policy at all times and to report any issues of concern. *5.0 Other Duties* 5.1 To work within and promote all Lighthouse policies and procedures. 5.2 To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required. 5.3 To give telephone advice when contacted on the crisis line. 5.4 To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Manager.
