We are recruiting for a Family Support Worker to join The London Borough of Haringey, Full Time, Paying up to £21.22 Per Hour.

**Job Purpose**:
The role involves providing effective support for children, young people and their families directly as a family support worker within the Localities Service Role involves working with the Whole Family in order to ensure good outcomes for all. Day to daymanagement of the post will rest with the Early Help and Prevention Service based in Children’s Services. You will work with colleagues in the Family Support Service, Health, Education, Youth Justice, social care and Youth Service as well as a range of otheragencies to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to children and families with complex needs.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Participate in the assessment of children and young people’s needs within their community and be proactive in the formulation and delivery of appropriate, timely SMART Outcome Based Plans, to ensure their needs are met throughout the intervention
- Provide professional expertise using evidenced based practice models in order to maintain and improve the efficiency and standard of the Early Help and Prevention Service.
- Work with colleagues in the multi-disciplinary context of the Locality
- or Youth Support Service providing support to team members as well as liaising with practitioners from other agencies to ensure a whole family approach is adopted in work with childrenand their families
- Act as a lead professional for children, young people and their families To offer advice and support to team members and to undertake joint assessments where the team managers decides.
- Ensure effective and efficient use of time and resources.
- Reconcile competing demands and priorities in agreement with your Senior always with a focus to make a difference to a child or young person’s daily lived experience.
- Participate in and contribute to team/section functioning, goals and objectives.
- Maintain professional standards and ensure that all deadlines are met i.e. Well Being Assessments, Outcome Based Plans, Team Around the Family Meetings and any other deadlines that are set in relation to support for children and their families. As wellas ensuring that reports are completed to a high standard at all times.
- Meet mandatory and other essential training requirements as set by line manager and or Service area
- Through collaborative working enable other professionals to identify family’s needs in relation to a range of risk indicators impacting on the child’s development i.e. Neglect, Domestic Abuse, Mental Health etc - Carrying out timely well being assessmentsand identifying and delivering most appropriate interventions proactively.
- Participate in the supervision, review and audit of cases as and when required.
- Engage children and families in the development and evaluation of services and ensure feedback and views on the service delivered are captured and explicitly reflected in assessments, plans and reviews.
- Use LB Haringey guidance on need thresholds to identify increases and reduction in levels of need, managing timely and appropriate escalation and step down as appropriate.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- Clearly demonstrated ability in direct work with children, young people and families
- Experience of working with young people and their families from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Experience of operating within an equal opportunities’ framework.
- Ability to think creatively and problem solve and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a community and to draw on the strengths of the team.
- Knowledge of different methods of family support and intervention.
- Knowledge of the statutory functions of the local authority and where Early Help and Support sits.
- A working knowledge of other relevant legislation, relevant national resources and relevant experience in working directly with adolescents and other agencies to resolve conflict and reduce risk.
