Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth-generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people.

We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We recently developed a second bakery, also at our site in Hull, which specialises in premium quality roll production. We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand “Jackson’s of Yorkshire”.

**What’s involved?**

The Engineering Shift Coordinator will provide a key point of contact across operations to ensure engineering resource is being utilised in the relevant areas and activities are coordinated to be completed on time and to plan. This role drives the use of good Engineering practices, ensuring that Jacksons comply with Food Safety, Quality and Legislative requirements. The Engineering Shift Coordinator will provide direction to the other members of the team on their shift but will also serve as a resource to carry out the same tasks as the other team members.

**Key Areas of Responsibility**:

- Organisation _
- Ensure handovers between shifts are effective (chair or facilitate as required)
- Attend daily production meetings (feed information into them and feedback from them)
- Coordinate planned and opportunity maintenance activities over the course of a shift
- Routinely patrol the Bread Plants to identify issues or concerns from production supervisors and short interval control boards
- Ensure shift engineering resource is deployed effectively at all times
- Ensure that the team complete all necessary record keeping and entries into EAM system in a timely fashion
- Work with Zone Engineering Managers to deliver the tasks they have identified in their areas
- Main engineering point of contact for Shift Manager and Supervisors on shift
- Maintenance and Repairs _
- To carry out maintenance tasks to specification identified via planned or corrective task requests.
- To maintain plant and equipment so to operate to its designed specification.
- To assist opposite trade in their MRO activities where required.
- To liaise closely with the operations team to ensure that maintenance work is prioritised with production requirements.
- The completion of work records, reports and associated data to ensure effective channels of communication are maintained.
- To maintain the condition of the engineering workshop facilities.
- To review and participate in the development of the electrical maintenance plan.
- To take an active role in focused improvement, root cause analysis and developmental projects.
- Compliance with procedures for engineering activities/standards of operation within the organisation.
- Project company policy for a proactive engineering function.
- Health & Safety _
- To have an excellent personal health and safety record and act to ensure safety of others
- To inform appropriate persons of potential safety issues and recommend corrective action needed
- To work towards a safe culture by developing safe behavior
- To ensure that all staff, visitors and contractors comply with the Jacksons Bakery Health & Safety policy
- Challenge unsafe behaviours demonstrated by employees or contractors
- Issue permits on an occasional basis outside of day working hours
