The post holder undertakes the administration of the ESR Payroll System at a local level as part of the Payroll, Pensions and Systems team, providing an efficient customer focused service to internal and external clients. Duties include to work accurately and reliably within accounting timetables for financial services, and to provide support and information to HR colleagues, managers and employees as required. The post holder is responsible to the Payroll Team Lead for the processing of the payroll information whilst adhering to trust policy and Statutory policy and procedures.

To manage an agreed number of monthly paid employees ensuring they are paid accurately and on time using the ESR system

Responsible for the processing of all information received for the allocated section of staff in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, terms and conditions, statutory requirements and standard operating procedures

Review and analyse incoming information to assess accuracy and completeness, contacting managers/employees to clarify incomplete or inaccurate information

Managing data input and control processes within ESR, including manual data entry, Web Data Entry (Web ADI) and interface files, and running or analysing reports.

Control and monitor batch validation and transfer within ESR

To investigate and resolve complex queries and discrepancies from line managers, employees and HR & Finance colleagues.

Take corrective action on historic absence records to ensure accurate payment of occupational and statutory sick pay

To be responsible for the maintenance and administration of the electronic travel system, including file uploads transferring payment data to ESR, if necessary.

Review transactions received after the payroll Addressing cases where action is required to prevent overpayments or where it is possible to process changes with mínimal business risk

To calculate complex manual payments in accordance with statutory requirements

To provide advice to staff and managers on all matters pertaining to payroll

Advise staff in writing of dates when earnings will change due to occupational and statutory sick pay, maternity, adoption or paternity pay entitlement

Identify overpayment situations and initiate agreed overpayment and recovery procedure
