Head of Sustainability

To lead the development and delivery of the trust’s sustainability agenda, working across corporate and clinical teams with the ambition to be the most sustainable Mental health trust in the country.

The post holder will be responsible for embedding the green plan strategy across the organisation, engaging with clinical and corporate teams to deliver the trust’s objective and to promote sustainability at all levels of the organisation and with external partners.

The post holder will seek out, manage, and deliver sustainability projects and be responsible for the Trust’s sustainability action plan, monitoring its’ progress against the targets and objectives set.

They will work closely with corporate teams to improve our collection and reporting of sustainability information and be responsible for looking for further opportunities for driving and embedding our sustainability agenda across the organisation.

The post holder will be an expert in sustainability underpinned by experience and theory, with highly developed specialist knowledge capable of negotiating and influencing people and policy.
1. Lead the development and delivery of the Trust’s Green Plan, Reporting on progress and achievements.
2. To identify, lead and implement sustainability projects, ensuring the delivery of key project deliverables within agreed timescales, budget and to an agreed quality
3. To design and deliver key sustainability projects with clinical and operational teams, for example in relation to staff engagement initiatives, behavioural change projects, optimisation and reduction in waste & energy use, procurement and supply, travel and transport, air pollution, clinical operation, and climate change.

1. To produce and present timely, complex, and informative reporting on key sustainability metrics in conjunction with the corporate teams responsible for statutory reporting, for internal trust use, Board use, staff communications and external partners.
2. Build new relationships with partner organisations to align strategy and projects in relation to sustainability across the ICS, city, and region.
3. To work in a multi-disciplinary way across all departments and clinical areas to further embed sustainability initiatives into our work programme.
4. To organise the trust’s Sustainability Board and subgroups, set the agenda and work programme, which brings together key corporate teams and clinicians to drive the environmental agenda forward, manage actions and maintain records of meetings
