Leicester, United Kingdom British Red Cross Full time

**Casework Coordinator - Refugee Support**

**Location: Leicester**

**Contract type: 1 year fixed term**

**Hours: 20 hours per week**

**Salary: £24,819 - £25,783 per annum (pro rata) (Salary includes a market supplement)**

**Could you provide advice, support, and advocacy to people in crisis as a result of their immigration status?**
***
We are looking for a **Casework Coordinator** to join our **Refugee Support** team Reporting to the Refugee Support Service Manager, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, advice and advocacy support for people in a range of complex and crisis related situations in the Southeast area.

You’ll primarily be responsible for the coordination and delivery of casework services for asylum seekers and refugees. For this group living in limbo, without government support they can be particularly vulnerable and at risk of experiencing destitution. You’ll be providing them with much needed support.

You’ll take a holistic approach to supporting these individuals, by providing clients with short-term casework support. This could involve directing clients for help with their asylum cases or basic essentials, or building strong working relationships with local agencies and charities operating in the local area where individuals can be referred to for further assistance.

This is a rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy and communication skills, the ability to work sensitively and remain calm under pressure.

**Say hello to the team**

The focus of this role is on the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy Project. The team provides access to practical support, information and advice to people affected by asylum and immigration issues across the area. We work in partnership with many organisations to provide these services, including the provision of destitution support. Our frontline services are supported by trained volunteers under the supervision of our casework coordinators. Through effective signposting, referrals, advice and advocacy support we enable service users to access their rights and entitlements as well as the services they need.

**This role might be for you if...**
- You've got experience delivering casework with vulnerable clients (ideally within the asylum support system), and you’re able to effectively advocate on behalf of clients to realise their rights and entitlements.
- You have an understanding of issues relating to refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants
- You’re able to support, manage and develop volunteers
- You're a team player; you're able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a high-pressure environment. You will have experience of cross-agency partnership and collaborative working too.
- You're a great communicator with the ability to adapt your communication based on the audience.
- You have experience providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations

We offer a wide range of staff benefits, these include:

- 36 days holiday pro rata (including Bank Holidays)
- Option to buy an extra 5 days annual leave
- Up to 6% contributory pension
- Flexible working policy
- Discounts from a range of online and high street retailers
- Genuine investment in you personal and professional development
