WRBC is a lively, friendly, family-orientated Baptist Church near to Hucknall town centre. We have a thriving children’s and youth work and a vibrant small group structure which welcomes all ages.
We are passionate at growing disciples, and we are looking for someone who shares this passion and will, in collaboration with our youth leader, help us grow our 0 -18+ children and young people’s ministry. 95% of under 18s are unchurched so whilst the task is great, the opportunities are huge.
**About the role**:
The main focus of the Children and Families Team Leader is to coordinate and deliver the work in church for our 0 - 11 year olds, and their families. also to lead in outreach to children and families in the wider community.
We are looking for someone who can deliver children’s and families work and grow, engage and motivate teams of volunteers to deliver a high-quality programme of activities. The role would therefore involve a mix of both hands on and volunteer coordinated delivery.
The post holder would report to the Lead Minister.
**Main responsibilities will include**:
- Ensuring and delivering good quality children’s work on a Sunday morning, and leading other events and activities (EG Mid-week activities and toddler group).
- Developing and building a leadership team and volunteers for the children’s work.
- Developing and delivering good quality outreach and support work for families
- Organising activities that bring non-churched children and families into the church.
- Taking a lead on children and family's pastoral support.
- Contribute to the day to day media, promotion, and online communication.
- Supporting the leadership as appropriate in pastoral and administrative activities.
- Following and implementing the church’s policies and practices including safeguarding and safe working practices.
- Regularly attending worship as a member of WRBC.
- Attending any relevant Baptist Union Events commensurate with the role.
**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:
- Honest, reliable and able to act on own initiative.
- Good organisational skills.
- Experience working or a track record of volunteering in a Children’s Context or in formal education.
- Experience in working with diverse age ranges (Pre-school, KS 1 and 2)
- Ability to communicate with and relate to children and maintain good relationships with families in church and the community.
- Relevant training is desirable.
- To contribute towards the Church vision and ethos. This person must be committed to working in a professional and positive manner, solving problems, and have a heart for helping people.
- High ethical standards.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and in a friendly manner with staff, children, young people, their families and external agencies.
- Be able to resolve any issues in a professional, calm, and measured manner.
- To be highly motivated and to have a flexible approach towards work and working hours.
- .The ability to listen without judgment.
- Ability to encourage and inspire others.
- Effective volunteer coordinator, empowering others to deliver an effective children’s and families work programme.
- The role holder will need to provide two satisfactory references and the relevant Right to Work in the UK.
