Due expansion of our service to support the development of respiratory virtual ward we have an opportunity for 1 WTE band 8a Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist to join our respiratory service team.
The service is expanding to provide virtual respiratory ward service in addition to our existing COPD, home oxygen, pulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory physio service. This post will work directly to support and lead the community respiratory aspect of the respiratory virtual ward in North East Essex.
You will join a team of nurses, physios and assistant practitioners who are passionate about quality community respiratory care, supporting admission avoidance, early supported discharge, condition optimisation, rehabilitation and promotion of self management.
You should be a registered physiotherapist with post graduate experience in respiratory care, ideally in the out of hospital environment. You should be a non-medical prescriber as part of your advanced practise qualification. Car driver is essential. This is a 7 day service so there will be a requirement to work across a 7 day roster. You should also have experience of home oxygen prescribing and risk decisions, ABG procedural competency and skills in analysis.
- You are required to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
- To lead for specific changes to practice or service protocols in order to improve quality of care to patients.
- Identify the need for audit, evaluation and research projects, co-ordinating their implementation
- To deal with complaints relating to the clinical team when delegated by the manager.
- To be part of a clinical based team working within limitations and scope of practice
- To independently prescribe the appropriate medications in line with BNF/ CCG guidelines to effectively meet the needs of patients within the service and within scope of practice
- Contribute to the development of advanced clinical practice within ESNEFT Services.
- To be accountable for all aspects of own clinical practice and have lead responsibility for the professional practice of the service.
- To be responsible for the identifying of training needs, monitoring of training compliance and development process, ensuring staff, service and organisational objectives are met.
- To facilitate and promote a learning culture within the team that encourages teamwork, maximises individual contribution and stimulates innovation and development.
- To ensure good communication within the team, enabling staff to participate in decision making. Promoting a culture, in which staff feel informed, valued and have a positive sense of ownership of ESNEFT’s core values.
