Residential Care Worker

Exciting opportunity for a residential care worker working with children and young people in the Greater Manchester / Salford area.
Working in residential care requires patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of the individuals you serve. It can be a challenging yet highly rewarding career path.
Do you have a natural ability to care for people? We are looking for anyone who has experience or is just looking for a new career as full training and working towards qualifications will be provided.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Promote a Positive Environment**:
- Foster a positive and nurturing environment for the children and young people.
- Create opportunities for recreational activities, social interaction, and personal development.
- Ensure home is kept clean and tidy / complete laundry and cooking tasks.
- **Individualised Care Plans**:
- Develop and implement individualised care plans for each child or young person.
- Regularly review and update plans to ensure they meet changing needs and circumstances.
- **Collaboration with Educational Professionals**:
- Work closely with educational professionals to support the child or young person's academic progress.
- Attend school meetings and collaborate with teachers to address any educational challenges.
- **Family Involvement**:
- Facilitate and encourage family involvement and contact, in line with the child or young person's well-being.
- Provide support and guidance to families when necessary.
- **Understanding the PACE Model**:
- Continuously deepen your understanding of the PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) model of care.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with OFSTED and quality care standards.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to track progress and highlight any concerns.
- **Behavioural Management**:
- Collaborate with professionals to develop and implement effective behavioural management strategies.
- Provide consistent and positive reinforcement for good behaviour.
- **Life Skills Development**:
- Actively support and teach young people independent living skills.
- Encourage and assist them in acquiring skills that contribute to their long-term independence.
- Assist the child or young person with attending appointments.
- **Training and Professional Development**:
- Regularly participate in relevant training sessions to enhance your skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- **Communication and Advocacy**:
- Effectively communicate the needs and progress of children and young people. Facilitate meetings for them to express their views, wishes & feelings.
- Act as an advocate for the children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard.
- Promote choice and involvement.
- **Equal Opportunities and Diversity**:
- Promote diversity and equal opportunities in all aspects of care and support.
- Ensure that services are inclusive and accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:
- Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all individuals in the care setting.
- Report and address any safety concerns promptly.
- **Child-Centered Approach**:
- Keep the needs and expectations of children and young people at the forefront of decision-making and daily activities.
- Continuously seek feedback from them to improve the quality of care provided.
- Deliver Key work sessions to the child young persons.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred - but not required.
- Level 3 or 4 Children, Young people, and family practitioner equivalent - _or willing to work towards_
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence _- preferred but not essential_
- Ability to pass enhanced DBS check.
- Strong communication / documenting skills
