**Role Overview**:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Food Production Assistant to join our team in Mayobridge. You will play a vital role in our in-store food production, assisting with the preparation, processing, and packaging of a variety of fresh food items for our customers. This position requires a strong focus on hygiene, efficiency, and teamwork, ensuring that our food products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. **Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the preparation of a range of food items, such as salads, sandwiches, ready meals, and baked goods, following established recipes and guidelines.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including slicers, mixers, ovens, and packaging machinery (full training will be provided).
- Ensure all food preparation and handling processes adhere to strict food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular cleaning and sanitization of equipment and surfaces.
- Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished products, reporting any issues to the relevant supervisor.
- Package and label food products accurately and efficiently, ensuring they are presented attractively for sale.
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory management to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
- Work collaboratively with other team members in the food production and retail departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow instructions from the Production Manager or other senior staff regarding daily tasks and production schedules.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably requested to support the efficient operation of the food production area.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- A basic understanding of food hygiene principles is desirable, and a willingness to undertake relevant food safety training (e.g., CIEH Level 2 Food Safety) will be expected.
- Good communication and teamwork skills are essential for collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good manual dexterity and the ability to handle food and equipment safely.
- A strong work ethic and a positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team's success.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required for measuring ingredients and following instructions.
