**We are retained by our client to identify a suitable Senior Financial Controller, reporting to the Plant Director with dotted line to Group, and responsible for 15 staff members.**

**The Role**

Responsible for leading the finance department; maintaining an accounting record and reporting system so as to fulfil Division, Corporate, statutory and company management requirements. To partner with the Plant Director and senior leadership team in providingfinancial assistance and direction.

To enhance the growth of the business through financial planning, business analysis, financial controls, process improvements, margin improvements, cost reduction opportunities and development of Finance function talent.

**Responsibilities**
- Preparation of budgets, corporate financial reports and management accounts.
- Monthly accounts in compliance with timeframes.
- Statutory accounts preparation and liaison with auditors, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP.
- Assess and mentor Finance team.
- Develop and maintain financial control systems and procedures.
- Work with SOX Coordinator to develop and enhance SOX controls.
- Participate with other senior managers in compiling both short
- and long-range profit forecasts and evaluating the projected financial performance.
- Prepare profit and cash flow forecasts.
- Liaise with Commercial and Sales & Marketing Managers on significant changes to the Company pricing policy.
- Participate in the preparation of Capital Appropriation Requests.
- Oversee the credit control function and credit vetting process.
- Oversee Payroll.
- Manage banking facilities, sterling and foreign currency transactions, exchange regulations, currency exposure and cash needs.
- Oversight of insurance policies.
- Liaise with External Auditors and government departments.
- Ensure compliance.

**Experience and Attributes Required**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**

Professional qualification in Accounting - ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent)

- Demonstrated experience of developing and leading teams, ideally in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Resilient and action orientated, demonstrating determination and perseverance
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- An analytical problem solver
- Ability to meet requirements within strict timescales in response to business demands
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to network, build relationships and enthuse others
- Articulate and authoritative, able to influence people at varying levels in the company and command respect from staff of varied education and background
- Customer focused, practicing the principles of continuous business improvement to drive high standards

**EXPERIENCE**
- Several years of experience in managing a finance team and its various finance functions
- Knowledge of US & UK GAAP accounting standards
- Manufacturing background
- Working knowledge of ERP (SAP preferred)

**ADDITIONAL NOTES**

**_This is a plant-based role that will require some travel to other sites and occasionally to the US. You therefore need to be within commuting distance of Herefordshire._
