We have an opportunity in our Property Services team for a Compliance Officer, providing Compliance Mechanical and Electrical Contract support.
Homes First manages a combined property portfolio of over 8,500 homes on behalf of Lewes & Eastbourne Councils. It invests almost £20M per annum in service contracts, maintenance, major repairs, and improvements. Our service is also growing as the Councils' new investment companies develop new housing, covering a range of different tenures and accommodation types.
Working within the Property Services team, you will ensure the housing property portfolios of both councils remain compliant with relevant legislation and regulations on matters such as fire and lift safety, asbestos management, electrical safety, gas regulations as well as maintenance and servicing obligations among others. These services must be delivered to a high standard and to the terms of resident’s tenancy agreements, leases, and management agreements.
Some of the regular tasks include:
- Be the first point of contact for service contracts on all main work areas.
- Manage the no access procedures by obtaining relevant evidence for enforcement, coordinating tasks, processes, and stages with all stakeholders, representing EHL under the direction of lawyers.
- Process invoices from supply chain partners and prepare them for authorisation and payment.
- Place orders for repairs and identify rechargeable repairs with internal Surveyors & supply chain partners.
- Investigate complaints while liaising with contractors & customers. Provide report for management.
- Compile reports and statistics as required.
- Data entry to assist with effective monitoring of service contracts, estate safety inspections, asset registers and compliance with statutory duties.
- Write letters and construct mail merges as needed and other administrative duties including arranging meetings and minute taking.
- Place instructions with in-house surveyors or commissions with external consultants for inspections, surveys and project management work.
- Maintain the various databases including C.O.S.H.H. register and Health and Safety file.
Apart from good level of literacy and numeracy, you need to have a good appreciation for occupational health and safety legislation within social housing. You will also need to be resilient, proactive, calm under pressure and be able to manage customer expectations effectively through a professional approach.
