Senior Compliance Officer

**Purpose of the role**:
The Senior Compliance Officer will work as part of a team that is responsible for ensuring that the company observes all relevant regulations, while promoting a particular emphasis on positive customer outcomes. This includes promoting a culture of compliance and supporting regulatory adherence and customer advocacy in the business.
**Key Duties & Responsibilities**
Monitor adherence and work with the business on compliance related matters
Provide accurate and timely compliance support and advice to the business on ad-hoc queries and in managing compliance requirements,
Assess compliance risks and the associated controls. Provide an independent evaluation of, and opinion on, processes, systems and controls to manage compliance risks
Review proposed marketing materials and ensure all material complies with regulatory requirements.
Review compliance related training material developed by the business, providing feedback from a regulatory perspective.
Perform internal independent compliance monitoring reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulation.
**Projects**
Review and assess compliance requirements on business projects, ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements arising from projects and business initiatives are being considered and included within project scope.
Communicate clearly and timely to business units the key compliance risks to be addressed and provide detailed support throughout the project process.
**Maintain regulatory awareness**
Monitor regulatory environment and complete analysis, which may include in-depth and complex research, fact finding and analysis.
Provide detailed compliance reports and contribute to Board and committee reporting
Establish and support the implementation of new compliance initiatives, policies and procedures.
Co-ordinate and complete compliance policy and procedure reviews and communicate updates as required.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and deploy compliance training and awareness initiatives; promote and track engagement.
Regulatory engagement
Ensure the accurate and timely submission of regulatory returns and notifications as required.
Assist with regulatory requests for information and thematic reviews.
Investigate and respond to complaints accepted by the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Other duties
Compilation of compliance related information and reports.
Completion of tasks to the compliance timetable.
Insurance agency related activities.
Qualifications, knowledge & experience
5+ years’ compliance and regulatory experience in a Compliance Officer role.
General insurance background.
Strong knowledge of UK regulatory framework, specifically in relation to regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Knowledge of insurance processes and operations.
Qualification to Cert CII Level and/ or professional qualification in compliance, legal or accountancy discipline desirable.
- We now operate a remote working model primarily working from home with limited time spent in the office. There is an expectation to attend the office when required for example for training purposes
