A great opportunity has become available for a **Senior Plc Accountant** to join our team at the **DS Smith Shared Services Centre in Caerphilly, Wales** to assist in the delivery of best class accounting/reporting service to respective UK businesses. This role relates specifically to the Plc entities, including Innovation and European Packaging.

You will lead a small team in the processing, accounting and reporting of financial information within the SSC, on behalf of DSS Plc. Commitment to ongoing review and improvement of the accuracy of the financial data, as well as identifying opportunities for efficiency gains.

You would be based in the Shared Services Centre in Caerphilly with some occasional UK business travel once it is safe to do so. This is an office-based role, please note that we are offering some flexibility around work hours.
- Manage the production of appropriate and timely month-cycle activities, including reporting of analysis and metrics
- Ensure activities are completed on timely basis to meet reporting deadlines, including a number of tasks that this role will be responsible for completing.
- Co-ordinate with Group Tax and Group Finance to ensure compliance reporting deadlines are met. (Monthly reporting, VAT etc)
- Ensure that corporate governance standards are clear and maintained through a process of ongoing balance sheet reviews and a strong control environment. Including the ongoing management of deferred costs/recharges.
- Liaise and support Group and Divisional requirements
- Dealing with auditors at half year and year end, being the main contact/lead for the SSC Plc reporting team
- Being the lead contact for queries for the Plc entities
- Methodical approach to problem solving and reconciling data
- Identify areas of improvement to facilitate continuous improvement
- Work with and/or lead user groups in implementing standardised processes and improvements across the board
- Support SSC initiatives including cross-departmental projects and work transfer activities
- Guide, monitor and be responsible for the work and performance of team members
- Provide or co-ordinate staff training and support the team to achieve excellent performance
- Be able to supervise and motivate staff in a team

- Minimum requirements_
- Part-qualified
- Accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Good eye for detail
- Ability to investigate with a methodical approach and follow up
- Excellent organisation skills (own workload and direct reports)
- Desirable requirements_
- SAP user
- Previous experience in a Shared Services environment
