Job Title: Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker

Hours: 1 PA - 6-10 hours a week

1 PA - 12-18 hours a week

1 PA - relief PA to cover annual leave and sickness

Rates of Pay: Starting pay £10.50 per hour

Paid holiday allowance based on hours worked

Aims and purpose of role:
Personal Assistant to support a lady with long term illness and disability in a person-centred manner. This will include various duties. Main aim of the role is to assist with daily living tasks as required, to enable her to maintain her independence and continue living in her own home. Applications for varied hours and cover work welcome. Starting pay £10.50 per hour.

Responsible to - Directly accountable to the employer

DUTIES:

- Supporting choice, independence, dignity and respect
- Preparing and serving meals, drinks and support at mealtimes as required, including washing up/tidying up after meals
- Assisting with laundry, bed linen changing and daily bed making
- Maintaining a clean, pleasant and safe home environment
- Supporting my disability. This mainly means supporting prescribed rest, pacing and activity/rehabilitation needs
- Any other duties which may be reasonably allocated and fall within the scope and responsibilities of this role
- To undertake any relevant training and ongoing joint review and supervision as needed

Personal Specification:

- Be compassionate, caring, understanding and respectful towards varying needs
- Have good communication and listening skills
- Have good awareness of hygiene and safe manual handling
- Ensure that due consideration is given to Health and Safety at all times. Full PPE provided
- Preferably, but not necessarily, have experience of supporting people with disabilities.

Understanding, accepting attitude towards my own individual limitations, illnesses and needs
- and a willingness to learn is more important
- Establish and maintain a professional and efficient standard of care
- Undertake the role with due regard to the person’s physical, social and recreational needs
- Respect and safeguard all goods and property where the person lives
- Respect the person’s privacy and uphold confidentiality at all times
- Be reliable, flexible and efficient

It is important for me to be comfortable and at ease with the person working for me; with their work and my varying needs. This is an important role, which relies on good, clear communication between client and carer, to ensure that things run smoothly for both of us.
