I am looking for a qualified teacher who can deliver 3 x 2 hour sessions of education per week to a Year 10 child ASAP, this will be at her residential children’s home in Wellington, Somerset The sessions would need to take place in 'school hours’ and term time only. - She will require tuition around high interest activities and need the opportunity to build a trusting relationship with a new tutor as she has significant attachments needs. - Autistic Spectrum Disorder, global developmental delay and SEMH needs. The young girl is a looked after child. - She is isolated and has no known friends and she feels very lonely and ostracised due to previous experiences of significant bullying. - She struggles to understand the world around her and is at risk of exploitation. She is presenting as highly anxious and hyper-sensitive to sensory world and other people's conversations and behaviours around her causing her extreme distress and anxiety. - Staff have been advised to use a trauma-informed sensitive nurturing approach using PACE when supporting her to feel less anxious and reduce her stress levels. This can be achieved by using a calm manner, clear language, providing sensitive reassurance,distraction to things she enjoys like Frozen, pamper sessions, colouring, walks, art, slime, music. The successful Tutor will: - Be passionate about working with children with additional needs. - Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Equivalent - Be adaptable and quick learning, able to think on their feet. - Have solid understanding of the UK national curriculum and be able to produce their own resources. - Be able to set firm boundaries whilst showing empathy and resilience to pupil behaviours.
