**Job Overview**
We are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to assist and support the Transport Manager. The Transport Planner will be responsible for coordinating and planning efficient transportation routes to ensure timely delivery of goods, whilst ensuring full compliance is adhered to within DVSA regulations.

You will also be responsible for ensuring full compliance with driver hours regulations, identifying any potential opportunities to enable continuous opportunities.

This role will also support both the Production, Sales and Aftersales Functions.

**Responsibilities**
- To plan and allocate routes and vehicles ensuring enough flexibility is in place to meet the varying and changing needs of customers. In additional you must comply with the KPIs and standards of the business.
- To support the Transport Manager with the maintenance of fleet vehicles.
- To support with the management of any RTAs and claims that arise.
- To support the Transport Manager with Agencies to ensure they can supply the company staff who are qualified and adequate to supply a service to the business.
- To manage and oversee the legal available hours of our drivers to make sure they are following the rules of driver’s hours.
- To assist the Transport Manager with managing the allocation of holidays for drivers.
- To assist with the management and oversee the booking in of deliveries of raw materials coming into the company.
- To support the Transport Manager in the maintenance of the company’s Operator’s licence to enable us to run a fleet of HGV Vehicles and make sure our OCR score is kept to a High Standard.
- Ad-hoc admin duties as required.
- To work as a member of the team, undertaking delegated tasks and responsibilities in line with the emerging needs and operational requirements of the business.
- To work with other departments of the company (production, sales, package moulding, IT, purchasing, human resources and so on) to ensure we give an outstanding service to our customers.
- To work in a safe and effective manner always and comply with company health and safety rules
- To participate with the quality and environmental practices in the workplace
- To print, check and refresh sales orders and print driver’s delivery notes for all delivery’s
- To cover the Fleet Administrator during periods of absence

**Requirements - personal characteristics**
- Proficient in managing transport logistics
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to drive transport operations efficiently
- IT proficiency for data management and analysis
- Excellent English communication skills
- Knowledge of supply chain principles
- Ability to work under own initiative but also as part of a team
- A proficient decision maker with excellent organisational skills
- A flexible approach is essential

**Experience (essential)**
- An understanding of commercial vehicle legislation
- Computer literate
- Experience of load planning and scheduling
- A good understanding of UK geography
- An understanding of load planning software

**Qualifications**
- Minimum GCSE English/Maths grade C or equivalent (essential)
- Transport Manager CPC (desirable)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £28,000.00 per year
