The position reports to the Senior Sustainability Communications Manager, working as part of the wider easyJet external communications department across the UK and Europe, and as an integral part of the sustainability and internal communications teams. The Press Officer will be expected to work closely across a variety of disciplines within the company, such as external communications (both PR and Public Affairs), internal communications as well social, customer and marketing comms.
The Press Officer will be responsible for helping to promote and defend easyJet’s reputation in relation to sustainability, proactively promoting stories and dealing with media on reactive enquiries relating to sustainability. They will be responsible for sustainability content management, ensuring that easyJet’s sustainability materials are continuously kept up to date. They will draft and issue press releases and internal communications to share our sustainability story externally and internally, and will support on social, customer and marketing comms, including keeping our websites updated, to ensure all materials are consistent, accurate and up to date. They will be responsible for managing and tracking easyJet’s speaking engagements, working with organisers and developing briefings for easyJet’s representatives. They will also monitor and track specific issues and support on the development of policy materials.
The Press Officer will be passionate about communications and sustainability and have proven experience of working with national and regional media as well as online and social media, policy or internal communications experience would be a bonus. Together with being proactive and efficient, they will have excellent written skills and the ability to grasp sometimes technical information to convert it into simple and understandable language.
**Requirements of the Role**
To be considered for this role you must have previous experience in communications and content management, experience in sustainability and/or the aviation industry is desirable, and you must be fluent in English in writing and speaking. It's a challenging role which requires a strategic, yet sleeves-rolled-up style, with attention to detail.
**Key**:
- Proven experience of media communications and media handling, ideally in a similar role
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Broad knowledge of all media and a strong news sense
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, other languages a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure with ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
- Accuracy and attention to detail; excellent proof-reading skills
**Desirable**
- Knowledge of and interest in sustainability and/or aviation industry
- Public Affairs experience, particularly in an EU/Brussels context
- Internal communications, marketing or social media experience
- Media event management with experience of managing high profile events
**Location**:Luton (with Hybrid working patterns)
