The demand for payroll solutions is rising rapidly but must navigate unprecedented shifting work patterns, global mobility, and an increasingly complex employment tax and benefits landscape.

Our clients need to be confident that we are getting this right. Our payroll solutions need to be effective, accurate, and compliant with a range of regulation - from HMRC legislation to pension auto-enrolment and GDPR requirements.

A look into the role

As a Payroll Associate within our Client Payroll team, you will:

- Be part of a large outsourced payroll team providing payroll solutions to a range of our clients. You’ll be supported by, and in turn will support the wider team, working together to meet our clients needs.
- Prepare allocated client payrolls in a fast paced, high pressure environment from start to finish, focusing on quality and attention to detail whilst mitigating risk.
- Build and own the relationship with your portfolio of clients, adjusting your style to suit clients needs.
- liaise with client account managers to ensure that you are responding to any questions in a timely manner and be flexible and smart in the way you are working in order to ensure client deadlines are met and achieved.
- Keep up to date with payroll technical knowledge and be able to develop yourself through ad hoc projects as well as internal training and development.

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as a Payroll Associate in Client Payroll the minimum criteria you’ll need:

- Experience of working in a busy payroll environment.
- A comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation in order for you to be able to process a broad range of low-high complexity payrolls.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and flexible in approach.
- Able to work under pressure in a high turnover environment and prioritise own workload.
- Good communicator verbally and in writing with colleagues and clients.
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for ensuring quality.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you to develop along the way.
- Experience of working in an outsourced or bureau payroll environment
- Payroll qualifications obtained by CIPP or other relevant professional bodies
- Desire to be part of a growing service line within Grant Thornton.
