**Purpose of the Role**
You will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing and production teams by resolving challenges experienced in the manufacture and servicing of our product lines, such as sensors, alternators, electronic control systems, powertrain invertors and interfaceunits designed primarily for the motorsport market. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and form close working relationships with other Engineering functions, Product Management and Production Teams.
**Principle Accountabilities**
- Address Improvement Logs raised by the production team relating to design or documentation changes.
- Be responsible for correcting non-conformances related to test specifications, documentation or product design.
- Servicing requests for new or replacement production tooling/jigs, improving quality.
- Provide assistance to the Production and Quality teams in 8D investigations.
- Support, investigate, repair and maintain the production test equipment including our automated systems.
- Use a data-led approach to improve the McLaren Applied product range in production and collaborate with Product Managers and Production Managers to prioritise.
- Primarily operate in the postproduction launch phase of a products lifecycle.
- Where required implement design changes to industry standards and best practices.
- Be capable of updating specifications, drawings and create production build and test instructions.
- Where design changes have been implemented, test and validate that the specification has been met.
- Confidently analyse and overcome electronics hardware problems with feasible and innovative solutions.
- Operate within a multi-disciplinary team, primarily focussed in the motorsport industry.
- Support activity planning, budget estimates and take an active role in customer technical discussions where required.
- Plan, manage and account for your time. Anticipate any issues which might affect delivery progress and proactively address these, escalating for support if required.
- Communicate with clarity to key stakeholders at all levels of our business, customer organisations and supply partners.
- Share and articulate complex technical solutions with peers and non-engineering colleagues, such that others can easily understand, build and evolve your ideas collaboratively.
- Write technical requirements, specifications, processes and other documentation to a high standard.
- Produce and confidently deliver impactful presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Drive your career development proactively as part of a structured appraisal and feedback process. Identify and undertake learning and development opportunities and actively manage a continuous professional development plan.
- Provide input into team strategy discussions, taking a shared responsibility for the team’s growth, capability development and external image. Help to continually improve our team’s processes and enhancements to our toolsets.
**Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience**
- A degree in Electronic Engineering or a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. The role would suit an early career engineer with experience in Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace or Defence.
- Excellent Electronic Engineering foundation, with the ability to solve problems from first principles and hand calculations.
- Experience with designing both analogue and digital circuits.
- Comfortable speaking with customers to support existing designs.
- Understanding or experience of optimising circuit design, for ease of manufacture and production test, and component design to maximise efficiency, package density, layout efficiency, reliability, and thermal performance.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools, such as Cadence, would be an advantage.
- Experience of Ethernet, CAN & Flexray based communications would be advantageous.
