The main purpose of Senior Lecturer SEND (BA Primary and MA) role is to
lead and contribute to the teaching and curriculum development across both
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including SEND specialist
input. This work will involve developing and implementing a range of
pedagogical and assessment strategies in relation to undergraduate and
master’s provision in order to deliver high quality teaching and learning. It
also includes contributing to the promotion of teaching, research and
outreach activities across the School of Education and contributing to a
range of Primary, Secondary and Post 16 provision in the School of
Education. It also includes undertaking pastoral and academic support of
students and developing designated modules and programmes including
the provision of SEND specialist input.

Faculty Specific:
- Demonstrate, strong, positive and proactive leadership and programme
management skills including, the capacity and ability to inspire,
influence and positively motivate university tutors, placement providers,
mentors, employers and other staff involved in teaching, managing
and leading cohorts of students on the BA (Hons) Primary Education
with SEND and the MA SEND, full-time and part-time, programmes.
- Effective management of recruitment, interview and admissions
procedures to the BA (Hons) Primary Education with SEND and the MA
SEND, full-time and part-time, programmes to ensure that the
programme attracts high calibre graduates and maintains highest levels
of student retention, achievement and progression.
- Lead, monitor, evaluate and make timely interventions/take appropriate
and effective action to ensure the overall quality of the BA (Hons)
Primary Education with SEND and the MA SEND, full-time and parttime, programmes meet the highest standards in accordance with
internal and external inspection, administrative and annual review
processes including, OFSTED inspections.
- Oversee, lead and manage the above provision to ensure that it
supports the Faculty and University Strategic Vision
- Contribute positively to team meetings and support team goals and
decisions in order to achieve University/Faculty and Primary Team
targets and objectives
- Provide the highest standards of teaching, learning, assessment and
attainment on the BA (Hons) Primary Education with SEND and the
MA SEND, full-time and part-time, programmes.
- Demonstrate highly developed pedagogical knowledge; high
standards of teaching, learning and assessment; well-developed ICT
skills and a strong commitment to educational values in professional
practice.
- Design, plan, review and develop innovative teaching and learning
activities and materials that support the highest standards of teaching,
learning, assessment and achievement.
- Contribute to improvements in teaching and learning through research
and scholarly activity.
- Undertake duties in relation to the assessment of student academic
work, student placements and student research.
- Work effectively in an agile working environment and manage their
work to make the most of the opportunities agile working facilitates.
- To undertake tasks as required by the Head of Department.

**Academic Practice**
- Design, plan, review and innovate in activities and materials that support
student learning and deliver either across a range of modules or within a
