We are looking for Support workers to join our team, must have a minimum 12 months experience in working as a Support Worker and ideally Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care.
Purpose of the Role:
- Provide responsive and effective care and support to young people, tailored to their individual needs, within a semi-independent residential setting. Promote the rights of each young person, fostering an environment that is anti-oppressive and values diversity.w
- Operate within National Support Housing's policies and procedures to create a nurturing environment that encourages self-development, personal achievement, and resilience. Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of each young person through consistent and effective practices.
Main Duties:
- Foster an inclusive, caring living environment.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Prioritise the well-being of each young person.
- Work as a key team member, maintaining accurate records.
- Manage financial transaction records effectively.
- Collaborate with professionals, family members, and others involved in the young person's life.
- Deliver National Support Housing's Independent Living Programme and track progress.
- Encourage life skills development, risk management, and expand the knowledge base of young people.
- Address safeguarding and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) issues effectively.
- Engage in professional supervision and undertake administrative tasks, including risk assessments and progress reports.
- Contribute to risk management strategies for individual young people.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and development days.
- Commit to reflective practice for professional development.
- Deliver and receive effective handovers.
- Pursue training opportunities as identified through supervision and organisational needs.
- Support young people in accessing education and employment opportunities.
- Stay informed about legislative changes impacting young people.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Adhere to National Support Housing policies and procedures.
- Complete health and safety checks, report issues, and perform general cleaning tasks.
- Demonstrate resilience and positive conflict resolution skills.
- Work within the on-duty rota, including sleep-ins If necessary.
Additional duties may be assigned by the line manager or Director, in line with the role.
Person Specification:
Experience (Essential):
- Current/recent experience working with young people.
- Support of young people’s developmental needs.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Achievement-focused working.
- Teamwork and multi-agency collaboration.
- Anti-oppressive/anti-discriminatory practice.
Experience (Desirable):
- Delivering informal learning.
Knowledge (Essential):
- Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent) or willingness to achieve within 12 months.
- Understanding of legislation affecting young people.
- Knowledge of factors impacting young people’s lives.
- Safeguarding, CSE issues, procedures, and policies.
- Confidentiality and Data Protection Act.
- Diversity, Equal Opportunities, and their relevance.
- Rights of young people.
- Health and safety.
Knowledge (Desirable):
- Person-Centred approaches.

Pay: £12.50-£14.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
