**CAREERS CO-ORDINATOR**

**The Appointment**:
The post-holder will provide Careers Advice and Advice and Guidance to students and applicants on a range of relevant areas including careers, courses advice, financial support and any other College related information.

**Responsible to**:
The postholder is responsible to the Head of Student Services.

**The Post**:
1. To line manage and co-ordinate the work of the Student Advisor.

2. To act as the Careers Leader for the College.

3. To act as a central point for all careers, information, advice, guidance and signposting services to enquirers within the Student Hub.

4. To maintain up to date knowledge and be pro-active in the delivery of Careers and Guidance services. Ensuring that knowledge is relevant using LMI and being aware of other educational/training providers and their offer.

5. To deliver one to one impartial careers and guidance interviews and small group career support for applicants and on-course students which will include: those at risk of leaving their course, referrals from Progress Tutors, students unsure of their post-course destination.

6. To develop relationships with Curriculum Managers and Curriculum Leaders meeting on a regular basis gathering details around new or potential curriculum offerings and disseminating this to the Student Hub teams (IAG).

7. To act as the lead in delivering a financial advice support service to all learners, including publicity and developing a support service for learners to access.

8. To work with the Head of Studies in planning and setting up career’s and employability events each academic year including National Careers and
Industry Month.

9. On a weekly basis ensure all 16/17 year olds withdrawn are contacted and details relayed to the Local Authority to support the NEET agenda.

10. To be available to support applicants/students and parents/carers during parents evenings, Course Discussions and Open Events on post course destinations internally and externally.

11. To create a library of contacts with a wide range of employers and organisations that can support post course destinations, liaising with the Work placement team and Business Development Apprenticeship team to ensure that the employer contact list is current and up to date.

12. To support the self-assessment process, inspection preparation, Matrix accreditation and Gatsby Benchmarks.

13. To offer a signposting service to internal support services. (Counselling,

Welfare and Student Engagement Officer support).

14. Lead contact with NUS.

15. To make use of the College system (pro-monitor) to record all aspects of support provided.

16. To participate in enrolment, admissions, College based promotional events e.g. open evenings and off site events as appropriate.

17. To contribute to cross College events e.g. Health and Well-being and Equality,
Diversity and Inclusion.

18. To administer relevant sanctions in accordance with the ID Badge policy.

19. To produce annual reports related to the work of the Careers and Guidance section.

20. To keep up to date on all aspects of overseas issues relating to Student
Services of visas, fees, studying in the UK.

21. To contribute to cross College development activities, under the direction of the Manager, including
- Enrolment
- Admissions
- College based promotional events
- Off site promotional events

22. To ensure all information held within the Guidance Centre, on relevant notice boards etc, throughout the College is kept up to date.

23. Required to work regular evenings.

24. Use College IT systems in order to complete your duties and responsibilities.

25. To contribute towards the development of the service at community settings.

26. To carry out any other duties which may be required from time to time and which are commensurate with the post.

The above duties are indicative of the requirements of the post at the time of recruitment. It is management policy that roles and responsibilities are reviewed on a regular basis leading to possible modifications where appropriate. Staff may be asked to undertake other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the post, at the initial place of work or at other locations from which the College operates.

**Experience**
Experience of delivering a careers guidance/IAG or E A working as a Careers/IAG Advisor within a college, HE or school setting
Experience of delivering information in an engaging D I/AS format to learners e.g. presentations, interactive group sessions,
