An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bath & North East Somerset Council at a time of significant change and modernisation. This role is vital in helping to shape and implement our Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy for the council.
Joining our two Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partners you will have a lead role in the delivery of a strong and robust Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy and culture, working in partnership with Directors and Heads of Service ensuring consistent and professional advice and guidance for the management of health, safety and wellbeing across the Council.
**About the role**
You will work as part of a small team to deliver an effective health, safety and wellbeing service for the Council. As the Health, Safety and Wellbeing partner you will focus on the wellbeing of staff as well as their health and safety across the council and will embed Health, Safety and Wellbeing into the culture of the organisation,
You will be working collaboratively across boundaries, actively tapping into existing networks and building new long term relationships particularly with colleagues in critical health and safety roles (such as with schools, waste, highways, care homes and property) to deliver on the things that matter most to our residents.
You will play a leading role in guiding, supporting and advising managers and all staff on health, safety and wellbeing and ensure high standards of H&S are achieved and maintained.
As the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business partner, you will be working in collaboration with the organisation and wider HR colleagues, building strong relationships and champion a positive health, safety (H&S) and wellbeing culture. You will have a strong focus on departments and teams achieving high levels of understanding and awareness regarding health and safety and be able to identify ways of continually improving our H&S culture.
**About You**
As an experienced Health and Safety professional you will have NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent and you will be a Chartered Member of IOSH (or working towards Chartership) with a good background in UK Health and Safety. Ideally you will have experience and understanding within the construction and/or care environments.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of working at a strategic level, implementing health and safety management systems and you will have a keen interest in wellbeing and implementing wellbeing strategies.
You will be a strong team player with a positive, enthusiastic approach who can easily engage with others and have experience of advising leaders and managers on a range of complex, sensitive and multi-disciplinary health, safety and wellbeing issues.
You will be creative with the ability to manage conflicting demands and deadlines and have strong negotiating and influencing skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, ability to resolve problems and respond to queries.
