What it's like to work here Home to the Anson family since 1624, the Shugborough Estate is the complete working estate. The estate includes a Georgian mansion house with magnificent views over the riverside garden terraces, Grade 1 listed parkland, woodland, walled garden, workingfarm and servants quarters as well as two shops, a second hand bookshop, café and tea room.

More recently, Shugborough was the home of Patrick Lichfield, photographer and cousin to the Queen, and features in much of his work.

What you'll be doing You'll have a sound working knowledge and experience of volunteering principles and practice and will be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt your style and tone to meet the changing needs of your audience. You'll also be able to recognise the key differencesbetween staff and volunteering roles, particularly the legal framework, the approach to reward and recognition, and dealing with challenging situations.

You’ll be part of the Visitor Experience team, working alongside two other Visitor Experience Officers, the Volunteering & Community Officer and Welcome Manager. You’ll also work closely with; and build strong relationships with; every other department acrossthe estate from Rangers and Gardeners to Food and Beverage and Retail as well as the passionate team of volunteers that support the estate every day. You'll support the volunteer team through recruitment, induction and day to day support and engagement. You'llalso support the property's volunteer line managers through your knowledge of IT based volunteering systems within the National Trust.

Reporting into the Visitor Operations and Experience Manager, you'll be based in the Visitor Experience team alongside two Visitor Experience Officers and the Welcome Manager. You'll work with volunteer line managers across the property building relationshipsto support and develop the volunteering offer at Shugborough.

Who we're looking for We'd love to hear from you, if this sounds like you:

- Demonstrate a sound understanding of volunteering and be enthusiastic about promoting the benefits of great volunteer involvement and opportunities
- Be passionate and enthusiastic about working with volunteers and understand the differences between staff and volunteers, particularly the legal frameworks
- Have excellent customer services and communication skills
- Have a flexible approach and be a great team player, be able to lead on and work with other people's agendas towards a common purpose
- Be well organised and attentive to detail
- A sound working knowledge of volunteering principles and practice
- IT skills (Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge and experience of budget management
