**Hours**:Full time 37.5 hours per week. In this role, you'll work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings.

What it's like to work here:The North and West Lakes includes iconic mountains and lakes, 15,000 hectares of common land, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, internationally important habitats and attracts over 1 million visitors per year. You will be working in the North Lakes as part of a dedicated team of staff looking to deliver ambitions for nature and people in the Borrowdale and Buttermere valleys.

What you'll be doing:With your endless passion for our work, you'll help with the protection and care of habitats, wildlife, property and machinery. You will work on your own, with other members of staff, and volunteers, on a variety of practical tasks to help us protect and care for the landscape. This will include delivering a wide variety of estate maintenance work such as installing rights of way furniture, tree safety work, boundary maintenance and access work, woodland management, invasive species control and survey work.
As an easily identifiable member of the Ranger team we want you to engage with visitors; making time to talk to them and share your enthusiasm for the outdoors and our countryside. You'll also share and promote the work that we do here, ensuring special places like these are here to be both protected and enjoyed by everyone for ever. This will see you responding to queries and explaining the value of the work being undertaken. After all, your passion and dedication could fire the imagination that makes a visitor become a supporter for the rest of their life.

**Who we're looking forWe’d love to hear from you if you’re**:
- practically experienced in conservation work, to protect and improve habitats and landscapes
- happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing, and why it matters
- hard-working and willing to learn
- able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines
- experienced in managing land, access and conservation, and working outdoors
- able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates
- a driver with a full UK driving licence
