**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly organised and professional Medical Secretary to provide essential administrative support within our healthcare team, in the Wigan area.

You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, the processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers in accordance with current policies, including the use of the electronic referral service (ERS).

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient care through effective administrative management, requiring a friendly demeanour and attention to detail.

**Responsibilities**
- Managing patient appointments, scheduling, and cancellations with accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health records systems, ensuring confidentiality in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of medical documents and reports as required.
- Handle incoming calls and inquiries, providing information and directing calls to the appropriate personnel.
- Process patient admissions and discharges efficiently.
- Prepare medical reports, correspondence, and other documentation as required
- Coordinate communication between patients, doctors, and other healthcare staff, and insurance companies.
- Handle billing and coding tasks as required.
- Perform general office duties such as filing, photocopying, and managing correspondence, supporting healthcare staff with administrative tasks to facilitate smooth clinic operations.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations by maintaining a clean office environment.

**Experience**
- Proven experience in an office or administrative role, within an NHS primary care setting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in using EMIS/Docman GP Systems.
- Proficient in using ERS to manage referrals.
- A keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous but not essential.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 20 per week
