**About this role**
Sustainability is a key part of the BT corporate strategy and we have already made great strides in areas of sustainability such as CO2e reduction and teaching digital skills. We need your help to grow our approach to Waste Management and Nature conservation, to make them even better. Our approach is to consolidate being brilliant at the basics, and to then increasingly starting to view Waste as a resource looking internally first, but with an open mind to external opportunities as well in the longer term.
Our property estate is varied and geographically dispersed and brings with it a number of challenges and risks to the environment, particularly around our waste and natural environment aspects. This role is pivotal in ensuring that we manage these risks effectively not only to meets our legal and moral obligations, but also support our ambition to continually improve our performance in these areas.
This role will help to ensure that we are fully conversant with and are able to manage our waste and environmental risks presented through the use of our buildings (c7000). Proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including our strategic alliance partners, will be needed to monitor and manage performance in these areas and drive change. You will be tasked to take timely and appropriate steps to address any areas of weakness or poor performance, as well as driving continual improvement to support our EMS and ultimately support BT’s broader sustainability objectives which enhance our brand and maintain our ability to do business with key customers.

**You'll have the following responsibilities**
- Supports the delivery of our waste and natural environment strategies and will play a key role in maintaining their success.
- Engages with internal and external stakeholders to promote our EMS compliance and objectives and ensure they are understood and delivered as required.
- Monitors key performance indicators and audit actions and takes appropriate steps to ensure that any weaknesses or failings are addressed in a timely manner.
- Present and visible across the estate, and carries out audits to assess compliance
- Analyses relevant MI and data to identify trends and opportunities for improvements in waste and natural environment performance.
- Ensures that all relevant waste and environment databases and information are being appropriately maintained in internal and external systems.
- Provides reports and information to meet compliance requirements and support the business in understanding its risks for waste and the environment, and areas for improvement.
- Ensures that all relevant policies, procedures and processes for managing waste and the natural environment are kept up to date and in line with all statutory or business requirements.
- Develops and delivers relevant communications, guidance and information for internal and external stakeholders to support the development of a positive waste and environment culture.
**You'll have the following skills & experience**
- Worked in a Sustainability Role within a multi-site operation
- Calm under pressure and used to working alongside colleagues/stakeholders through a period of intense stress and pressure
- Experience in developing environmental improvement projects to deliver cost and environmental savings
- Developed a network of strong working relationships you can call on to assist with your role
- Delivered results and effect change in everything they do
- Tackled process/policy obstacles to ensure delivery of projects and initiatives
