You would work on two areas funded largely through EU Horizon 2020 and Europe grants: study and use of molecular biomarkers for the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) and other mycobacterial diseases and for studying the prognosis of TB under treatment. The intention is that this work leads to clinically usable diagnostic tests using non-invasive samples such as urine. Secondly, the EuCARE consortium launched is dedicated to clarifying: How do SARS-COV-2 variants, along with other factors, affect the clinical course of COVID-19 or affect the value of vaccines currently in use? Can we define a better testing and containment strategy in schools? What governs vaccine hesitancy?

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Characterisation (detection and identification) of host and/or bacterial biochemical factors using LS-MS, MALDI-Tof (working with Imperial Phenome Center and a new full-time PhD student)
- Help develop of Point-of-Care or close-to-patient diagnostic tests
- Support diagnostic clinical trial development eg development of protocol and ethics committee review with others.
- To act as the focal point/project co-ordiantor contact for Prof Drobniewski’s laboratory including monitoring expenditure against grants
- To assist with the analysis of data
- To ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times and maintain accurate and complete records
- To assist with the writing of reports to research sponsors and for publication
- To assist in preparation of grants

**Essential requirements**:

- **
- Previous experience in a research laboratory environment
- Knowledge of basic statistical analysis e.g., STATA or other packages
- Knowledge of basic research methods and statistical procedures
- Knowledge of general laboratory practice, techniques, and instrumentation
- Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature

**Further information**:
This is a Part-Time (28 hours) and Open-ended role based at the Hammersmith Campus with occasional travel to the South Kensington Campus.
