The project uses preclinical models to screen the potential of non-invasive brain stimulation regimes known to induce neuronal plasticity in the fight against AD. It involves a combination of non-invasive brain stimulation in preclinical models capturing features of AD-related pathology, _in vivo_ 1- and 2-Photon structure/function micro-circuit imaging, electrophysiology, molecular characterisation and behavioural tests of cognition using automated touchscreen technology. Importantly, this is a translational project requiring excellent communication between preclinical and clinical teams to be successful. Clinical studies using non-invasive brain stimulation and experimental medicine approaches are being led by Dr Grossman and Prof Matthews.

This role is part of the UK Dementia Research Institute atImperial, located in the Department of Brain Sciences. Postdocs here enjoy excellent career development opportunities with:

**Duties and responsibilities**:
You will:

- Build on existing skills and experience to address major components of this project independently.
- Present research findings as written reports, at conferences, within the College and as published manuscripts.
- Take initiative in research planning, with clear and timely communications to the Group Leader and relevant researchers.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the lab and facilities, acting collegiately with other scientists, clinicians, technicians and students
- Provide guidance to staff and assist in the supervision of research students, as required
- Maintain highly organised and accurate records of experimental work
- Undertake appropriate scientific and professional training.

**Essential requirements**:
You will be a **motivated and organised researcher**, excited by the science we do.

You will hold (or be near completion of) **a PhD in neuroscience** (or related discipline), with practical experience of 2-Photon _in vivo_ imaging of mouse models and/or associated synaptic plasticity and neuronal micro-circuit experience.

Experience of one or more **software** packages is essential: MATLAB, ImageJ, SigmaPlot, Prism, R as is experience in statistical analysis.

**Further information**:
This position is offered full time, initially for a period of one year with the potential for renewal.

Appointments are typically made to the first spine point of the scale. Applicants who have not yet had their PhD degree awarded will be appointed to the Research Assistant scale.
