My client is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator / Advisor to act as a

point of contact for volunteers, members of staff and managers, providing advice and support in line with

policies, procedures and best practice in relation to volunteers.

You will support the development of our volunteers by providing advice and guidance, as well as leading

on specific volunteer development projects.

My client would consider Part time for this role, minimum hours of 22.5 per week

Possibility of working from home 1 day per week

**Key responsibilities**
- To provide advice and guidance to staff and volunteers, in relation to project development and

volunteer problem solving procedures.
- To work with the Head of Volunteering to develop and roll out the Volunteering Strategy.
- To lead on Volunteer Celebration and recognition events.

1. Service Delivery

1.1. To act as a point of contact for volunteers, colleagues and managers on all volunteering issues,

providing advice and support in line with relevant policies, procedures and best practice

1.2. Alongside the Head of Volunteering and senior colleagues support with the investigation

process as part of the Volunteer Policy

1.3. Working with managers ensure that volunteer, role and environmental risk assessments are

completed where necessary and support staff to complete these risk assessments with

volunteers.

1.4. Lead on Volunteer Celebration and Thank You events, including Volunteers Week

1.5. Carry out the biannual Volunteer Surveys for volunteers and staff

1.6. To support the Head of Volunteering with Volunteer Forums and Volunteer Management

Forums

1.7. Coordinate the monthly Volunteer Newsletter

2. Volunteer Project Management

2.1. To lead on the established Ward Support Volunteer Programme, aimed at sixth form students.

This will include recruiting, training and evaluation of the project.

2.2. Support the Head of Volunteering to identify new areas for volunteering and new potential

partnerships

3. Additional Tasks

3.1. Provide support to staff and volunteers where appropriate

3.2. Ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with information relating to volunteers.

3.3. Attending and contributing to Volunteer team meetings, and other Hospice committees / forums

as required.

3.4. Providing cover and support for other volunteer team members as required.

3.5. Undertaking any other such duties or general tasks and hours of work as may reasonably be

required, and working in other locations within the Hospice organisation.

3.6. Lead by example, exemplifying the Hospice values and behaviours - Integrity, Compassion,

Accountability, Respect, Excellence

**Qualifications and Training**
- Good standard of general education
- Trained in use of Microsoft Office Packages

**Work background and experience**
- Experience of supporting and supervising volunteers
- Experience of working in a similar healthcare environment, or in the not-for-profit sector

**Particular skills and aptitudes**
- Effective and professional communication and interpersonal skills, both on the telephone and

in person.
- Experience of managing volunteers
- Confident to present to groups
- Ability to deal with a diverse range of people
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Able to create good quality written material
- Experience of working effectively in teams
- Knowledge of risk assessment
- Ability to develop and deliver training both face to face and online
- Problem solving skills, with a collaborative approach
