Sainsbury’s Property division is responsible for all Sainsbury’s trading and non-trading property assets, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and offices, industrial and retail depots. It all adds up to give us responsibility for the 4th largest retail estate by number of shops (Over 2,100, and still growing) and the 2nd largest by floor area.

It’s one of the most exciting times of retail industry change and Head of Location Planning is a key role in the property senior leadership team whose accountabilities include planning our nationwide acquisition plan, assessing acquisition opportunities, and providing advice on the ongoing development of the store estate.

**More about the role**:

- Accountable for the ownership and development of the network plan, looking for new market opportunities and advocate for their development
- Responsible for the delivering high confidence and timely sales forecasts for new potential sites or amendments to existing trading assets
- Provide ongoing expertise to processes like the ‘Estate Review’ that rely on location insight to drive profitable investment or actions
- Ensure the team are using best practice location analysis techniques and methods to provide insights at location level that inform how we should invest our capital, understand performance and provide decision support.
- Accountable for producing and developing the foundation location analysis tools that underpin our understanding of the UK, for example, Local Market intelligence
- Accountable for preparing and maintaining the base data and offer competition and regulatory location assessments
- Undertake project work in alignment with business priorities and self-generated
- Lead and develop a team of location planning and analytical specialists.

**More about you**:

- Excellent understanding of spatial analytics techniques and systems and how they are applied
- Good understanding of UK Grocery market
- Experience with Alteryx and other GIS platforms
- Experience of communicating analysis to non-technical audiences and making recommendations to senior management
- Ability to strategically communicate both verbally and visually
- Ability to make complex and difficult decisions using data, judgement, external insight, and experience
