Technical Project Manager

Technical PM Role required until 31/03/23 (likely to be extended) based in Southampton.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- To be a member of the IT Technical Project Team.
- Project manage the implementation of IT technical projects as directed by the Head of IT Operations
- Lead technical work streams within Programmes and Projects
- To ensure delivery of multiple ICT technical projects, as well as having a supervisory responsibility for staff seconded to those projects.
- Be responsible for delivering local and national projects within defined timescales, to time, cost and quality using PRINCE2 - the standard project methodology.
- Be expected to promote a project management culture within the community as well as advising and assisting both non-IT project teams,, on technical matters where relevant
Scope and Authority:
- The post holder, acting in accordance with standard procedures and/or instructions from the Technical Project Manager. The post holder is required to use their discretion when following technical procedures in order to assess the impact and then take actionaccordingly. Where appropriate the post holder would refer these decisions to the Head of IT Operations or other senior manager.
- All development and support activity is performed to meet ITIL standards. The post holder will work within this framework to deliver high quality solutions and support.
- The post holder has the authority to act independently in a project environment, working with industry best practice and technical standards; Data Protection and Caldicott, and Information Governance standards.
- Projects are run using the PRINCE2 methodology. The post holder will provide technical knowledge and expertise to the senior supplier and lead project workstreams. Provide technical input and advise on technical solutions to meet project objectives
- They will work with multiple public sector organisations and staff at all levels, and liaise with external suppliers and organisations. Comparisons of a range of options must be made considering technical, financial, and functional aspects; making recommendationsand advising customers on investment in solutions.
- This post requires continual upgrading of skills to reflect rapid changes in technology. This is achieved through formal training, informal skills transfer and self-tuition.
- To negotiate best value for IT equipment from external suppliers meeting standards.
This role is to start asap and will pay £228.46 umbrella per day (inside IR35)
